Your dance records deserve thoughtful protection.

Information Dance Jot collects

Dance Jot may collect your email address, authentication identity, display name, profile photo, selected roles, device and push-notification tokens, purchase status, AI-credit activity, support messages, and basic diagnostic information.

The app also stores information you choose to enter, including child and dancer names, dances, teams, studio rosters, teacher assignments, competitions, imported schedules, entry numbers, scores, adjudications, placements, awards, goals, training records, notes, critique results, score-sheet photos, family links, studio links, and invitations.

How information is used

Information is used to create and secure accounts; provide role-specific screens; save, search, and share authorized dance records; import schedules; deliver reminders and invitations; process purchases and credits; provide support; diagnose problems; prevent misuse; and improve Dance Jot.

Dance Jot does not sell personal information or use your dance records for third-party advertising.

Children and family accounts

Parents may create profiles for their children and may invite a child’s separate Dance Jot account using the account email address. Linked accounts can access only the child information allowed by Dance Jot’s family-link model. Parents and children can disconnect the link.

A parent, guardian, studio, or other adult who enters information about a minor is responsible for having authority to do so. Children who are not old enough to consent under applicable law should use Dance Jot only with a parent or guardian’s permission and supervision.

Studio and teacher access

Studios may maintain private rosters, teams, dances, schedules, and results. A studio controls access granted to its teachers or staff. Teachers generally see studio dances assigned to them or shared with all authorized teachers, along with their own private drafts.

Studio and family connections are separate. A studio does not receive access to a parent’s private family records merely because the same dancer participates at that studio.

AI-assisted features

When you choose an AI feature, Dance Jot sends the information needed to perform that request to its AI service provider. For AI-assisted schedule importing, this may include extracted schedule text and layout information. For the AI Critique Assistant, Dance Jot extracts audio from the video you select and processes the audio to create a transcript and structured feedback.

Temporary critique media is intended to be deleted after processing. Generated transcripts, insights, or notes may remain in your account when you save or attach them. AI results can be incomplete or inaccurate and should be reviewed before relying on them.

Photos, files, schedules, and public webpages

Profile photos, score-sheet photos, and other supported uploads may be stored so they remain available in your account. Schedule files and scans are processed to create an imported event schedule. When you provide a public schedule webpage, Dance Jot may retrieve that public page or file to find schedule information; it does not open the webpage as an interactive page inside the app.

Only upload files and enter information you have permission to use. Remove an attachment or imported schedule in the app when you no longer want it associated with your account.

Service providers and disclosures

Dance Jot relies on service providers to operate the app, including Google Firebase for authentication, database, file storage, and server functions; Expo for push-notification delivery; Apple and Google for supported sign-in; Apple for App Store purchases; and OpenAI for selected AI-assisted features.

Information may also be disclosed when required by law, to protect users or the service, to investigate fraud or security issues, or as part of a business transfer subject to appropriate safeguards.

Purchases and subscriptions

Apple processes Dance Jot subscriptions and AI-credit-pack payments. Dance Jot receives transaction, product, subscription-status, and account-linking information needed to provide the purchase, but does not receive your full payment-card number. Manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple ID subscription settings.

Retention, deletion, and security

Dance Jot generally keeps account information and saved records until you remove them or delete your account. Items in Recently Deleted remain available until they are permanently removed; Dance Jot does not currently promise automatic deletion after a set number of days. Temporary processing files, backups, transaction records, and security logs may follow different limited retention periods.

Dance Jot uses access controls, Firebase security rules, authentication, and encrypted network connections designed to protect information. No online service can guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for protecting your login credentials and for accepting invitations only from people you recognize.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive information about your personal data. Many records can be managed directly in Dance Jot. You may also disconnect family or studio access, turn reminders off, change iOS notification permission, remove uploads, and delete your account from Settings.
